About this tool
To add VAT, multiply the net price by (1 + rate ÷ 100). To remove VAT, divide the gross price by (1 + rate ÷ 100). The VAT amount is the difference. A common mistake is to take 20% off a gross price, which gives the wrong answer: the VAT in a gross price of 120 at 20% is 20, not 24.
VAT rates and rules differ by country and by product, and some goods are zero-rated or exempt. The rate here is whatever you type, so check the correct rate for your sale. This tool is not tax advice.
