How to use Discount Calculator

  1. Choose whether to find the sale price or the discount percentage.
  2. Enter the original price and the discount (or the sale price).
  3. Optional: add an extra discount, such as a coupon on a sale price.
  4. Read the sale price and how much you save.

About this tool

Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100). A second discount is taken off the reduced price, so 20% off followed by 10% off is a 28% total discount, not 30%. To find an unknown discount, use (original − sale) ÷ original × 100.

Results use the price you enter and are shown to two decimal places.

Common questions

Why are two discounts not added together?

The second discount applies to a smaller price, so it is worth less in money than the first.

Does this include tax?

No. If tax is added after the discount, use the VAT or Sales Tax Calculator on the sale price.
