About this tool
The Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi formulas each start from a base weight at 5 feet (152.4 cm) and add a fixed amount per extra inch of height, with different values for men and women. They were created for medical dosing and are only rough guides. The healthy BMI range (BMI 18.5 to 24.9) is usually the more useful figure because it allows for different body types.
Because these formulas do not take age, muscle or bone structure into account, they are not a personal target. This tool gives general estimates for healthy adults. It is not a medical diagnosis or medical advice. Speak to a doctor or qualified health professional about your own health.

Common questions
Why do the formulas give different answers?
They were developed separately from different data. The differences are normally a few kilograms.
Why does it not show formulas for a short height?
The formulas were designed for adults of 5 feet or taller. Under that, only the BMI range is shown.
