About this tool
Volume units (cups, spoons, millilitres) are converted using exact US measures: 1 US cup = 236.588 ml, 1 tablespoon = 14.787 ml and 1 teaspoon = 4.929 ml. Weight units use exact definitions too (1 oz = 28.3495 g).
Turning volume into weight needs the density of the ingredient. The values used here are common averages, for example 125 g per cup of plain flour and 200 g per cup of granulated sugar. Flour in particular varies with how it is scooped, so weigh baking ingredients when accuracy matters. UK and Australian cups and spoons are slightly different sizes from US ones.

Common questions
How many grams are in a cup of flour?
About 125 g of plain flour, though recipes range from 120 to 150 g depending on the scooping method.
Why do my results differ from a recipe?
Recipes may use a different cup size or ingredient density. Follow the recipe’s own weights if it gives them.
